Albanese Labor Government celebrates Australia's biosecurity champions of 2024

The 2024 Australian Biosecurity Award (ABA) recipients have been announced today at Parliament House in Canberra, celebrating 12 winners across nine categories.

The ABAs encourage winners to share their stories, while highlighting the importance of biosecurity, and encouraging excellence and best practice in the biosecurity sector.

The 2024 awards cover nine winning categories, reflecting the growth of biosecurity, and the diverse scope of how biosecurity impacts across so many sectors.

This year is the first to have the First Nations Award for Excellence in Biosecurity category, with two worthy recipients recognised in the category.

The Albanese Labor Government is committed to a strong biosecurity system and has committed funding of more than $1 billion over four years.

This ensures that for the first time in Australia’s history we have a sustainable biosecurity funding model to protect our agricultural industry, our natural environment and our way of life.
