Chairperson announcement for Agrifutures Australia

The Albanese Labor Government has announced the appointment of The Hon. Mick Veitch as the next Chair of AgriFutures Australia for a three-year term.  

Mr Veitch is an accomplished industry leader with significant experience in rural industries.  

The former shearer and former NSW Shadow Minister for Primary Industries and Regional NSW will begin his new role on 11 January 2026. 

The appointment follows a competitive, open selection process. 

AgriFutures Australia is one of 15 Research and Development Corporations (RDCs) that service the research and development needs of Australian agriculture and rural industries. 

It supports developing and delivering programs that respond to the national challenges and opportunities that impact the Australian agricultural sector. 

The term of current Chair, Ms Cathy McGowan AO, will conclude on 10 January 2026. The Government thanks Ms McGowan for her contribution and leadership.
